Dan Lauzon (12-2), brother of The Ultimate Fight cast member Joe Lauzon, has suffered a back injury which has forced him out of his UFC 103 bout with Rafaello Oliveira (9-1). Lauzon is currently on an eight fight winning streak and his opponent Oliveira is on a three fight winning streak. Lauzon last fought at Affliction: Day of Reckoning where he scored a submission win over Bobby Green. It is unknown whether a replacement will take Lauzon's spot and fight Oliveira or whether both will be removed from the card completely.

Portion of UFC 103 Prelims to Air on Spike TV

Spike TV officially announced today that a potion of the UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort Prelims will be broadcasted for free and commercial free on Spike TV an hour before the pay per view portion of the card starts. Spike TV is planning on airing two of the prelim fights of the thirteen fight UFC 103 card. The UFC 103 prelims include:

Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller
Steve Lopez vs. Jim Miller
Dan Lauzon vs. Rafaello Oliveira
Paul Daley vs. Brian Foster
Tomasz Drwal vs. Drew McFedries
Jason Brilz vs. Eliot Marshall

UFC 105 Coming Together

We recently reported that Wanderlei Silva would not be fighting Michael Bisping (17-2-0) at UFC 105 due to facial surgery and that Bisping still needed an opponent. Several sources are reporting that Michael Bisping could face Denis Kang (32-11-1). It is also expected that the fight will drop down to co-main event status. Bisping is coming off of a brutal KO loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100. Kang is 1-1 in the UFC. He suffered a submission lose via guillotine choke to Alan Belcher when he made his UFC debut at UFC 93.

Chase Gormley vs Stefan Struve for UFC 104

Reports from MMA Junkie state that Chase Gormley will fight Stefan Struve at UFC 104. Struve is currently 1-1 inside the Octagon with a TKO loss to Junior Dos Santos at UFC 95. He rebounded at UFC 99 with a submission win over Denis Stojnic after suffering a nasty cut. The undefeated Chase Gormley (6-0-0) will be making his UFC debut. Gormley has a decision win over Eric Pele.

Ben Rothwell to make UFC Debut at UFC 104 against Cain Velasquez

Ben Rothwell will make his UFC Debut at UFC 104 against Cain Velasquez who has won four straight inside the Octagon. Rothwell has won fourteen of his last fifteen fights with two wins over current UFC light heavyweight Krzysztof Soszynski. Rothwell also has a win over former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez.

Brock Lesnar could meet Shane Carwin at UFC 106

It was previously rumored that Shane Carwin would meet Cain Velasquez at UFC 104. The fight was expected to create a new number one contender for Brock Lesnar. Reports from Minnesota MMA and MMA Madness.com state that there are ongoing discussions for Shane Carwin and Brock Lesnar to meet up at UFC 106.

Sam Stout vs Phillipe Nover Expected for UFN 19

It was recently report that Kyle Bradley was out of his UFC Ultimate Fight Night 19 fight with Sam Stout. The Canadian striker is now expected to face The Ultimate Fighter alumni Phillipe Nover who lost by controversial TKO to Bradley at UFC 98. Stout last fought at UFC 97 where he picked up a unanimous decision win over Matt Wiman. I expect a good fight for as long as it lasts.

Daily Updates for August 19th

A lot has been going on in the world of mixed martial arts in the past few days. UFC 105 is starting to take shape but Michael Bisping is still seeking an opponent. Bisping was expected to take on Wanderlei Silva who has been removed from the card. Wanderlei Silva is undergoing facial surgery. I assume this has something to do with fixing his scar tissue which is similar to what Nick Diaz recently did. Bisping is still expected to remain in the main event at UFC 105 and an opponent should be next soon.

Leites, McCrory and Baroni Back in the UFC Updated

So we earlier reported that Thales Leites and Tamden McCrory were released from the UFC after their UFC 101 bouts. A strange turn of events will see the two back in the octagon once again. Both lost close decisions that UFC 101 which many thought should have went in their favor.
