With UFC 85 being over only one question still lingers. What is Dana White's mind blowing announcement? Speculation has circled from site to site and forum to forum. Yet, nobody knows until Thursday. The announcement was original brought up in an interview done with White and ESPN The Magazine.
Well, of course we all know that Georges St. Pierre, the Montreal native with a record of 16-2-0, will face well rounded John Fitch, 22-2-1 at UFC 87. In a fight that could quiet possibly be his toughest fight yet, St. Pierre will look to retain his Welterweight title. Fitch will be looking for his ninth straight win in the UFC. While St. Pierre completely dominated Matt Serra in his last fight, which he was supposed to, Fitch struggled early against UFC new comer Chris Wilson.
Wiman and Tavares both received fight of the night honors netting them an additional $50k which was a very good call. The fight went back and forth for two straight rounds until Wiman stopped the fight with a brutal KO.
Late replacement Kevin Burns earned submission of the night with his triangle choke win over Roan Carneiro. The submission was even more shocking considering Burns was a huge underdog.
UFC 85 was filled with Brits and pretty decent fights. Overall, I would say that the event was worthing ordering despite a few early stoppages and illegal attacks. After watching EliteXC on CBS, UFC 85 was fucking awesome.
THIAGO ALVES VS. MATT HUGHES: Winner: Thiago Alves via TKO
With UFC 85 coming up tomorrow fighters weighed in today at the O2 Arena in London England. Despite one main event fighter, Thiago Alves, who didn't make weight, Shogun, Chuck Liddell, and Rashad Evans being removed from the card, the event still looks pretty interesting.
